"Have I ever told you that you have the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen?" Matt asked.

Color burned in her cheeks. "Um...no, but thank you." She said as her face got redder. "Matt, you're making me blush like crazy." She giggled.

"Well, I wouldn't say it's the greatest of your life, but it's nice of you to savor it." She squeezed their joined hands. "I'm really glad you're here. It's already the best birthday I've had in a long time."

Matt released Soraya's hands when the waiter came over with their appetizer.

"That looks really good." Matt said.

"Try it!" Soraya encouraged. "You'll love it."

Antonio returned to the table with a smile. "Am I to assume you're sticking with the Seafood Alfredo for the main course?"

"Yes." Soraya nodded. "And make it two."

"Absolutely." Antonio winked before returning the kitchen.

Soraya took a sip of her wine before prying a slice of Bruschetta loose and popping it into her mouth. "Mhmm..." She glanced up at Matt. "What do you think?"

Soraya sipped her wine and smiled as she watched Matt enjoy the food. Had it been like her previous few birthdays, she'd have been brooding through the appetizer, grieving through the main course and tearing up by dessert. But now she was laughing and enjoying herself, thanks to the presence of her boyfriend. And Benoit's absence didn't hurt as much with Matt being here.

"I know I said it already but I love you." She said.

He put another piece of Bruschetta in his mouth.

"You better continue eating this or else I'll take it all." Matt joked.
