Carmin whimpered as she curled up on the living room couch as another boom of thunder shook the home. She had curled up there not wanting to wake her brother.

Then she heard heavy footsteps coming into the room and looked up to see Cody shaking his head.

"What are you doing?" he asked

"Nothing." Carmin said, jumping out of her skin as the thunder came again.

Carmin shook her head as she buried her face into the side of the couch when lightning lit up the room.

"Don't you remember all the nights I made you hold me when we were kids?" Carmin muttered, jumping again.

"God...no!" Carmin said, jumping this time until she fell off the couch.

Carmin smiled a little until lightning lit up the room.

"Chelsea." Carmin muttered softly.

Carmin shook her head when she saw Zach come through the front door, a dark haired five year old girl in his arms.

"Chelsea." Carmin said.

"Mommy?" the young girl muttered.

Zach handed Chelsea to Carmin.

"I've got you baby, I've got you." Carmin said.

zach looked at Carmin for a moment.

"She needs to stay with you for a while." Zach said. "I've got to get my life straightened out and I can't do that with a five year old to take care of." Zach said.

Carmin nodded.

"I'm her mother, she needs me in her life."
